Why Use Spent Mushroom Compost?
Spent Mushroom compost is affordable and extremely versatile, adding organic matter, and slow-release nutrients as well as improving soil structure. The mushroom compost offers great soil conditioning properties and is great at neutralising acidic soil.
Made by combining carbon and nutrient-rich humus from animal manure and straw, a nutrient-rich microbial environment is formed which enhances the soil structure. This is particularly useful for heavy clay soils as it improves their structure, enhances drainage during the winter months and helps retain moisture during the summer.
The improved soil structure helps create a barrier that suppresses weed growth in flower beds, gardens, shrubs, and trees. It also creates the perfect environment for growing brassica and root vegetables, along with rose bushes
